Zone Conference - Here Comes the Sun!

Zone Conferences were a real spiritual feast this month.  We had conferences for three day with four zones at each conference.  The missionaries split their time between four different workshops.  The workshops were:
Gathering Scattered Israel/Pipeline/Weekly Baptisms - The Assistants
How Great is Your Call - The Whiting's
Working with Less Active Members - The Pugh's
Gifts of the Spirit - The Clark's and Zone Leaders

During the opening session we had lots of Tune-Up Items.  The church missionary department now allows our missionaries to wear sunglasses and hats.  However, there are specific guidelines to keep too much fashion and flair in check.  In order to help our missionaries understand these guidelines, the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders sang a song to a famous Beatles tune.  The missionaries got a kick out of it and I wish we would have videotaped it for posterity.

Here comes the sun...
Here comes the sun...
And I say, it's alright...

Missionaries, the time has come to look at shades.
Eye protection, but not so fast we've got some rules.

Here comes the sun...
Here comes the sun...
And I say, it's alright...

Missionaries, let's talk about the look and sty-le.
Watch for colors, the flash, the splash - that's not our way.

Match the mess-age...
Match the mess-age...
And I say, it's alright...

These 5 things are for sure.
Take those glasses off when indoors.
And please make sure that they are put away
Not on top of your head, behind it or down your shirt.
No sunglasses on when face to face.

Missionaries, sombreros next up on our list.
No bright colors, but 3 inch brim will do the trick.

Match the mess-age...
Match the mess-age...
And I say, it's alright...

Here comes the sun...
Here comes the sun...
And I say, it's alright...

SOE flags were given to all missionaries and district leaders who achieved Standard of Excellence for the month. SOE is 2 baptisms per companionship per month.
Our numbers are growing!

Completing Companionship Language Testing is also awarded! The missionaries receive a certificate with a classification as to their English abilities.  These certificates are valuable as they can assist them in getting better paid jobs when they return home.

Birthdays are a great way to celebrate!

SOE Celebration!

The Garcia's are Master Caterers.  They cook meals that are appreciated equally by American Senior Couples and young Filipinos.  They do a great service for the mission as they are a consistent and reliable caterer.

President and I are legal during this birthday celebration.  Note the foot.  Post to come.

Happy Birthday to you...

It was definitely another successful day of enjoying our missionaries.  They came ready to learn and learn they did.
