Beautiful Baler

The furthermost area in our mission is called Baler.  It took us over 5 hours to drive the very windy mountain road.  But it was definitely worth it.

The mountains have some of the prettiest rice fields I've seen.  I love the terraced fields.  In the picture below, you can see the carabao preparing the rice field to be planted.  I would love to take time to study rice fields.  They fascinate me.

When we dropped down onto the Pacific Coast, what a beautiful site!  We were able to meet with our missionaries there and enjoy a stunning view.

This is the view from our hotel window.

I've told the missionaries that they should keep their cabahay's in tiptop shape because they never know when I'll appear.  With a 5 minute head start, these elders did a pretty good job!

Each month we will visit this part of the mission.  Lucky us!

  1. How fun it is to see Mac (second row with glasses). I have enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to reading more as the grand adventure continues.
Thanks again for all your love and support of the missionaries and the people in the Philippines.
